Welcome to SEO Glossary

Bot or spider or crawler or robot – All search engines works on unique algorithm to crawl, assign page rank and to list the website in search results. This particular algorithm is called “bot”.

Page Rank (PR) – Google calculates website link popularity using Page Rank.

Landing page – Once visitor clicks the search engine listing URL, it will transfer to particular web page known as “Landing page”.

Link Popularity - It shows links that are directed towards your site from other websites.

Organic listing – Normal results found below the search bar returned by the search engine.

Conversion – Actions performed by the visitors like registering in website, buying products, signing to newsletter, etc are called “conversion” goals.


SERP (Search Engine Resulting Position) – The position attained by the website for particular or targeted keyword in search engine result.

SPAM (Stop Pornography and Abusive Marketing Act) – Generally promoting particular product by sending electronic junk mail or unsolicited e-mail or junk postings to newsgroup.

Index – Bot stores the individual page information and content in their storage centers after visiting the website.

Anchor text – Text appearing within tags. Commonly referred as text link.

Keyword Stuffing – Repetition of keywords or key phrase within the content in order to achieve high ranking on search engines.
